The district lies in the cultural region of [[Braj]]. Agra district is bounded by [[Mathura District]] on the north, [[Dholpur District]] of [[Rajasthan]] state on the south, [[Firozabad District]] on the east and [[Bharatpur District]] of [[Rajasthan]] State on the west.
