==Synopsis==
The film takes place in the 19th Century British India and is the story of the fight for independence from the British between 1825 and 1875. The film tells the story of men that lead the war against [[British Rule]]: Sanga (Dilip Kumar), Bharat (Manoj Kumar) known as Kranti, a prince (Shashi Kapoor) and a freedom fighter (Shatrughan Sinha). Sanga is an honest and dedicated employee in the kingdom of Ramgarh, owing allegiance and loyalty to no one except Raja Laxman Singh. When Laxman Singh conditionally permits the British to use the port for trading purposes, Sangha finds out that the British are taking out gold and jewellery and bringing in ammunition, and puts a stop to this. He goes to report this outrage to Laxman Singh, only to find him stabbed to death. Sanga is charged with treason and of killing Laxman Singh. Sentenced to death, he escapes and forms a group of revolutionaries who have only one goal - to drive the British out of India. This group multiplies into several armies, all united with one slogan - an Independent India, also known as Kranti. The film is known for a nude scene of Parveen Babi

==Story==
Suresh is a painter who lives a contented life with wife, son and his work. One day, a lady asks him to make a portrait of her, for which she will give him Rupees 2,000. He agrees and next day he goes to the lady's house. She seduces him and her husband catches her with Suresh. A fight ensues between the husband and wife with the wife killing the husband. She puts the blame on Suresh. Suresh manages to escape and leaves the place abandoning his wife and child.

While on the train, a man asks Suresh to take care of his wife and baby girl who are travelling alone for first time. Suresh agrees. The train meets with an accident and the lady dies. Suresh takes the baby entrusted in his care and starts looking after her as his daughter.

Suresh's wife has been left to fend for herself and her son (Deepak). She starts working as a maid to earn a livelihood. Her employer offers to adopt the son and provide him with an education and clothes to wear and food to eat. She agrees to leave her son in his care so as to give him a good life.

Several years pass and Deepak falls in love with Suresh's adopted daughter Suchitra. After several eventful incidents in their lives, Deepak gets his love Suchitra, and Suresh gets justice and is reunited with his wife and son.

Shortly thereafter, Kumar and Meena get married and return home to Bombay. Four years later, Meena's dad passes away after telling her something that he had hidden.

Soon, Kumar notices that Meena does not accompany him to the stage any more, and excuses herself on the pretext of being ill. He finds clues that suggest that she is meeting somebody else on the sly. Suspicious, Kumar makes the excuse of going to Pune, and instead dons a beard and goes by the name of S.N. Sinha. He checks into a hotel, and writes his name in the hotel register. That night, he returns to his home, to find the door open, and before he can investigate anything, he hears a gunshot. Kumar runs into the room and finds Meena dead, shot in her chest.

Enraged, he decides to call the police station, but realizes that he will be implicated in the murder – his fingerprints are on the gun, he is in disguise, and he is next to the body. Kumar returns to the hotel instead, and smokes a lot of cigarettes. The case is assigned to Inspector Ashok ([[Balraj Sahni]]), and the next day, when Kumar "returns" to Bombay, Ashok observes that Kumar knows which room the body is in, without being told by anyone.

The coconut seller near Kumar's house says that he saw a bearded man in the area the night of the murder, and the owner of the hotel which Kumar had checked into calls the police, saying that a bearded man had checked into his hotel. The cigarettes that Kumar had smoked are recovered, and handed over to Ashok. When he visits Kumar at his house the next day, Kumar offers him the same brand of cigarette, rousing his suspicion. Soon, more clues surface, pointing at Kumar as the killer.

In a fit of haste, Kumar decides to run away from the growing suspicion of Inspector Ashok. His friend, lawyer Jagmohan ([[Iftekhar]]), says that he will now definitely be implicated as the murderer of Meena. Desperate, he finds a clue about the suspected killer from his home – a key with room number of a hotel. Kumar visits the room as a last attempt to clear things before he is caught. There, he meets Captain Rajesh (Raaj Kumar) who calms him down and tells him that none of them is the real killer. He tells Kumar that he is his wife's first husband, who was supposedly killed on the front, and how he wanted her to acquire their illegitimate child, Sarika, because she wouldn't be able to raise a child born out of wedlock.

Captain Rajesh tells Kumar that whoever the killer is, he was seen by Sarika because she was present in the room where Meena was murdered while both mother and daughter were playing and their activities being recorded by a video camera. Together, they try to find the girl, eventually tracing her to Ooty. Unknown to them, Inspector Ashok is on their trail. Soon, they both are arrested by him with the help of Ooty Police. Kumar explains his case, and they try to find Sarika, and she is at the house of a man called Tejpal ([[Madan Puri]]), who tries to run away from there. Shabnam and Jagmohan arrive with the videotape of the night that Meena was murdered. It is revealed that Tejpal is the killer, but he quickly draws a gun and picks up Sarika, threatening to kill her should any of them try to stop him.

Captain Rajesh manages to save Sarika from Tejpal, but he is shot twice by the latter. Now free to attack him, Ashok draws his gun and shoots Tejpal, and Kumar rushes over to Captain Rajesh. Tejpal is killed by Ashok and Sarika is safe. Captain Rajesh dies, and at the end of the movie, Kumar tells Shabnam that he cannot work – Meena was his only inspiration. Shabnam shows him Sarika sitting in Meena's seat, and he embraces Shabnam.

== Plot==

Rajvir ([[Bobby Deol]]) and Ranvir ([[Sunny Deol]]) are devoted brothers. They along with their family, leave their village in [[Punjab (India)|Punjab]] to move to [[Mumbai]]. When their mother passes away, Ranvir takes on the responsibility of looking after his younger brother. After some hardships Ranvir, along with his father, manages to turn everything around and their family becomes really wealthy. But Rajvir, on the other hand, lives recklessly.

Shalini ([[Urmila Matondkar]]) joins the same college as Rajvir and falls for his charm. He tries to woo her as a joke but she falls in love with him. One night, Shalini confesses her love for Rajvir telling him she intends to marry him assuming the same desire on Rajvir's part, but he takes the proposal casually, as a joke.

She keeps on talking about marriage but one day Rajvir goes berserk and tells her that he does not love her. He even shows up at Shalini's house (enraged because his friends told him they think he has fallen in love with Shalini) disrespecting her parents as well in the process. A college rival of Rajvir (Sameer), that is jealous of Rajvir since he had a crush on Shalini but she fell in love with Rajvir instead, tries to beat up Rajvir with his hired goons. Ranvir comes to know about it and rushes over to Rajvir's aid. The college guy with his goons attacks Rajvir on the head with a weapon, but Ranvir manages to reach on time and saves Rajvir, and they beat the goons and Rajvir's college rival up.

Prior to all this, Ranvir had cathed a glimpse of Shalini at a signal on a road and fell in love with her. After seeing Shalini at a wedding, he came to know about her identity. He sent a marriage proposal but she refused it claiming she loves someone else (Rajvir). Ranvir, heartbroken, accepts.

After the aforesaid event, Shalini meets Ranvir again and they both eventually fall in love, and Shalini accepts Ranvir's marriage proposal. Rajvir later realises his love for Shalini and confesses it in front of Ranvir(who is unaware that Rajvir's love interest is Shalini), who encourages him to propose Shalini.

When he shows up and confesses his love, Shalini very politely disapproves. He feels broke and vows to kill that person (unaware it is Ranvir, as he never met his sister in law). He later on sees Ranvir along with Shalini in a restaurant and in anger behaved very rudely with Ranvir. Ranvir slaps Rajvir and Rajvir pushes him away, leaving both Ranvir and Shalini shocked. Rajvir then runs and attempts to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge, Ranvir rushes behind him, to save him, and ends up getting hit by a car and goes into a coma. Shalini bursts out at Rajvir because, due to him, so many people were troubled.

Later, In an emotional scene, Rajvir apologises to Ranvir, and he wakes up from his comma forgiving Rajvir. Shalini and Ranvir get married.

The film ends up with Rajvir going back to his village and ends up meeting Rani ([[Preity Zinta]]) and falling for her.

This was the last movie Hrishikesh Mukherjee did with Amitabh Bachchan as a Director. However, their last venture together was [[Coolie (1983 Hindi film)]] where Hrishikesh Mukherjee was the editor.

== Plot ==
Dr. Sudhir Roy ([[Amitabh Bachchan]]) and Dr. Prashant Chaturvedi ([[Vinod Mehra]]) meet Ms. Kavita Goel ([[Raakhee]]) on a holiday and start meeting her regularly. Though he himself was interested in Kavita, Sudhir recommends Prashant to her for marriage. When she asks why he himself can't marry her, Sudhir narrates his flashback.

Sudhir was the second son of a poor school teacher and hopes that his big brother would get a job and provide for them. But when his big brother becomes mentally ill and his father dies, he resorts to petty thieving. When police catch him, the Magistrate recognizes him and adopts him. Sudhir grows up along with the magistrate's son Prashant and receives same education and becomes a pediatrician. Now he tells her that he can't marry her on medical grounds as his brother was a psychiatric patient and he has a criminal background.

Kavita and Prashant marry and Prashant leaves for America for higher studies, while Sudhir stays in Bombay to take care of the magistrate and Kavita. After coming back, Prashant starts a medical practice and charges more money from patients, especially to do illegal abortions. Sudhir tries to reason with him, but he wouldn't listen. One day, Prashant's patient dies during an abortion and he gets arrested. Sudhir tells police that he was the actual culprit and changes all hospital records to prove that. In return, he takes the word of Prashant and Kavita to use medical profession to serve people, not to earn money. They give him their word and do exactly the same. Sudhir gets a nine-year sentence and loses his medical registration.

After nine years, Kavita and Prashant welcome Sudhir from jail along with their son.

==Plot==

Raja Kumar Bahadur, known as Gyan Shankar Rai ([[Raaj Kumar]]), is an abstemious man who turns to drink after pursuing a young woman named Saudamani ([[Hema Malini]]). Calling her Madhuri, he attracts the lower-class woman to his rich home but refuses to marry her. He later meets a much younger woman, Sumita ([[Raakhee]]), and organises a financial deal with her parents and marries her. The discovery that Sumita had a childhood sweetheart, Shekhar ([[Vinod Mehra]]), leads Kumar to plot the downfall of the pair.

The film's music was given by [[Shankar-Jaikishan]] and lyrics were by [[Hasrat Jaipuri]], [[Gopaldas Neeraj|Neeraj]] and Dev Kohli. The song "Geet Gaata Hoon Main", written by Dev Kohli and sung by [[Kishore Kumar]] stood at number 18 on the [[Binaca Geetmala annual list 1972|Annual 1972 listing]] of [[Binaca Geetmala]]. [[Asha Bhosle]] received a [[Filmfare Award]] nomination for [[Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer|Best Female Playback Singer]] in 1973 for her rendition of "Sooni Sooni Saans Ki Sitar Par". Another memorable number in the film is the [[Ghazal]], "Unke Khayal Aaye To", a composition based on Bageshwari/Gara ably sung by [[Mohammed Rafi]]. The song "Re Man Sur Mein Ga" by Manna Dey won the "Sur Singar" Award for the year 1971.
