Koira has abundant deposits of iron ore and manganese ore. More than 100 mines are operated in the area. Patmunda is the main reserve of manganese. Rungta Group, Adhunik Group, S.R. The majority of the population in the town are settled migrants from Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
