== Career ==
In 2011, he joined Atlético Madrid, Madrid, Spain (Flight School) for training in A320 type rating. After completing training, he started working as a first officer at [[IndiGo]]. In 2014, he worked as a captain in Indigo. In 2019, he joined Air Asia airlines as a pilot. Gaurav started his career as a Youtuber who used to upload his bodybuilding tips and nutrition videos. He owns three Youtube channels which are "Flying Beast", "Fit Muscle TV" and "Rasbhari Ke Papa". He along with his wife participated in the reality TV show ''Smart Jodi'' on Star Plus where they are seen engaging in the fun tasks as a couple. == Controversies ==
In 2020, Taneja posted a video on his YouTube channel in which he alleged that AirAsia India is neglecting the safety measures they have to take for the safety of their pilots, passengers, and aircraft. In July 2022, his wife booked an entire coach in the [[Noida Sector 51 metro station]] to celebrate his birthday. After booking the coach, She invited his subscribers and fans to celebrate his birthday and also have a meet and greet session with him. She also informed his subscribers that due to guidelines by the [[Noida Metro Rail Corporation]] they will have to restrict the number of people in the metro coach. However, she again posted an Instagram story and informed his subscribers that she had to cancel the celebration citing personal reasons. His fans arrived in huge numbers at the metro station and it became difficult for the metro authorities to handle the traffic jams and the crowd. During her first tenure as Chief Minister, there were irregularities about the purchase of 45,000 colour television sets for village panchayats, which cost {{INR}}10.16 crores ({{USD|{{To USD round|101600000|IND|year=2002|4}}}}). On 14 May 1998, a special court framed charges against the eleven accused in the case, namely the following: Jayalalithaa, her aide [[Sasikala Natarajan|Sasikala]], the Rural Affairs minister Selvaganapathy, the Chief Secretary N. Haribaskar, the state Rural Development Secretary H. M. Pandey, the former Rural Development Director M. Satyamurthy, PA Jarnathanan, and the minister's secretary and contractors, Doraisamy and Muthukumarasamy. The judge, Radhakrishnan, noted that there was enough evidence to frame the charges and dismissed the petition filed by Jayalalithaa and seven others to acquit them from the case. The Criminal Intelligence Division (CID) of Tamil Nadu, which handled the case, argued that the purchase of 45,302 colour television sets for [[Panchayat]] community centres across the state during the regime of Jayalalithaa was corrupt. The judge framed charges under [[Indian Penal Code]] (IPC) sections 120(b) of the [[Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988|Prevention of Corruption Act]] and sections 109 and 409. The chargesheet quoted that the television sets were priced {{INR}}14,500 ({{USD|{{To USD round|14500|IND|year=2002|sf=3}}}}) against a market price of {{INR}}12,000 ({{USD|{{To USD round|12000|IND|year=2002|sf=3}}}}), creating a loss to the state exchequer. ==Trial==
The trial of the case began in a special court on 28 December 1998. Around 80 witnesses from the prosecution side and two from the defence side were examined. The special court convicted seven of the nine accused of criminal conspiracy on 30 May 2000, under section 120-B of the [[Indian Penal Code]] and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of {{INR}}10,000 ({{USD|{{To USD round|10000|IND|year=2002|1}}}}). The seven convicts were then-Rural Affairs minister Selvaganapathy, the minister, Chief Secretary N Haribaskar, state Rural Development Secretary H M Pandey, former Rural Development Director M Satyamurthy, PA Jarnathanan, the minister's PA, and two contractors, Doraisamy and Muthukumarasamy. The seven sentenced by the court were moved to [[Vellore Central Prison]] that same evening. The state government appealed against the acquittal of Jayalalithaa from the case. On 5 May 2000, the Supreme Court asked the High Court to give more time to Jayalalithaa to examine the defence witness, based on the Special Leave Petition filed by her in the Supreme Court.<ref name=rediff2/> The appeal of the state government was quashed by the Madras High Court on 21 August 2009. ==Political implications==
This case was one of the first incidents where an ex-chief minister was arrested and sent to jail. It was also one of the earliest instances of the conviction of a member of Parliament in a corruption case, as Selvaganapathy was an MP in the [[Lok Sabha]] at the time of the verdict. While Jayalalithaa was in jail for 30 days, her residence at Poes Gardens in [[Chennai]] was raided.
