The Howrah–Anand Vihar Yuva Express was a Yuva Express series train of Indian Railways, that connected Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal to Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, the national capital.

Eastern Railway cancelled its operations permanently from 19 May 2020.

History
The train was inaugurated by former railway minister Mamata Banerjee, to help the youths of both towns to ply in between. This train was considered to be the cheapest of all AC trains between the two cities. It started as a weekly service between New Delhi and Howrah, but the train was shifted to Anand Vihar w.e.f. 13-12-2015.

Background
Sixty percent seats of the train were reserved for students, low-income groups & people belonging to the age group of 18-45yrs. To avail this facility, a traveller must had an age/income proof.

Composition
This train consisted of 10 AC Chair Car coaches with 5 AC 3 Tier coaches and with 2 End-On-Generation Vans. This train ran with old ICF coaches with a green and yellow livery which is themed on vibrant, contrasting and lively youth of the nation. As of 2020, the use of ICF Coaches were risky due to there old conditions, as old Rajdhani coaches are of 90s, they are not capable to run at such speeds of 130 KMPH, thus on 19 May 2020 it's services were discontinued.

Locomotive
The train was regularly hauled by a Howrah shed WAP-4 or WAP-7 locomotive.
This train had its inaugural run on 28 September 2009. It currently runs with new LHB Rajdhani rakes, which were allotted to it recently. It is one of 3 Duronto Express trains running out of Pune Junction, the other trains being the 12221/22 Pune–Howrah Duronto Express & 12297/98 Pune–Ahmedabad Duronto Express. Karjat is a technical halt only as 12264 Duronto Express to facilitate banker loco attachment in order to push the train up the ghats.

Traction
At its introduction, it was hauled by a WCAM-2/2P or WCAM-3 locomotives of the Kalyan Shed from Pune to Vadodara Junction after which a Tughlakabad or Vadodara-based WAP-7 or Ghaziabad-based WAP-5 used to haul the train for the remainder of its journey. This was due to DC traction on the Central Line in Mumbai region. Now it is hauled end to end by Vadodara or Tuglakabad WAP 7, as an offlink Ajni WAP 7 hauls it.

With a complete changeover from DC to AC in 2014, it is currently hauled end to end by a Tughlakabad-based WAP-7 locomotive.
