H. S. Bhatavdekar was a resident of [[Mumbai]] (Bombay). A Maharashtrian portrait photographer by occupation, Bhatavdekar was one of the first witnesses to the [[Lumiere Brothers]] film show in 1896 in Mumbai.<ref>{{cite web<br />
