He is a son of senior Congress leader and former Sadr-e-Riyasat [[Karan Singh]] and Yasho Rajya Lakshmi, granddaughter of the last Rana [[Prime Minister of Nepal]], [[Mohan Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana]].
