Balkrishna was born on 4 August 1972 in [[Haridwar]], [[Uttarakhand]] (then [[Uttar Pradesh]]) to Nepalese immigrants, Sumitra Devi and Jay Vallabh Subedi originating from [[Syangja]], Nepal.<ref name="jansatta" /><ref name="daiji" /> He spent his childhood in Nepal.
