Initially this film was supposed to be directed by Sachin Dev. But, some controversy between the producer and made him opt out of the film, [[R. Kannan]] then agreed to work on this film with a new script, cast and producer. [[Yuvan Shankar Raja]] was retained and [[Nakul(actor)|Nakul]], and [[Sunaina]] were retained. [[Nirav Shah]] agreed to join the team, RK Selva also joined the team. R Kannan being an assistant to [[Mani Ratnam]], made Ratnam write the dialogues for this film. Thus, Kannan decided to produce it along with Ratnam. This film will start to shoot after Boomerang. After starting to shoot R Kannan and Yuvan Shankar Raja had a fight with each other, so he opted out and [[S.S. Thaman]] had replaced him. Thaman's schedule was tight, thus he couldn't work on the project. [[Radhan]] replaced him .<br />

The producer didn't like some of Sachin Dev's scenes and didn't like the way he finished to film. So he opted out and R Kannan was decided the director of the film. The producer opted out after people claiming that [[R. Kannan]] copied the script from someone else. [[R. Kannan]] said in an interview that it was a remake from the popular Telugu hit movie ''[[Balakrishnudu]]''.<br />
