==Inquiry and Legal Proceedings==<br />
A local police case under Section 302 (murder) was registered at Karan Nagar police station immediately after the shooting. A judicial inquiry was initiated, led by Justice Mufti Jalaluddin and supported by human rights lawyer Jaleel Andrabi. The inquiry stalled following the judge’s transfer and the subsequent abduction and murder of Andrabi.
