About 158 candidates including 12 women participated in the election. The VPP won majority seats. The state ruling party [[National People&amp;#039;s Party (India)|NPP]] won 4 seats. The [[United Democratic Party (Meghalaya)|UDP]] won five seats, [[Hill State People&amp;#039;s Democratic Party|HSPDP]] won one seat, and two Independents won.
