==History ==
Rao Bahadur A. Veeriya Vandayar, after visiting European countries, desired to develop education in his rural area. With his brother A. Krishnasamy Vandayar he started Sri Pushpam College in 1956 with 106 students and 10 teachers affiliated to the [[Madras University]]. It was renamed in 1972 as A. Veeriya Vandayar Memorial Sri Pushpam College in memory of its founder/president.

The college is in [[Poondi, Thanjavur|Poondi]], 12 km from [[Thanjavur]] on the way to [[Nagapattinam]] in [[Tamil Nadu]] state in [[India]] on the National Highway 74. The college is linked by buses and trains from [[Thanjavur]]. It is in sylvan surroundings of {{convert|82|acre|m2}}.
