Gopalakrishnan's father, [[P. M. Anandan]], and uncle, [[P. M. Raghavan]], both played at first-class level for Travancore-Cochin, Kerala's predecessor. Two of his cousins, brothers [[P. M. K. Raghunath]] and [[P. M. K.
