Abhimanyu Lal started formal training in Kathak, under his mother [[Geetanjali Lal|Guru Geetanjali Lal]], in his teens. He was initially keen on becoming a singer, but once he started practising [[Kathak]] there was no looking back.&amp;lt;ref name=&amp;quot;thehindu&amp;quot;/&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;
