He worked for a short time in the mergers and acquisitions department at investment bank [[Credit Suisse First Boston]].{{citation needed|date=July 2018}} He joined the family business in 1997 and was appointed Head of Mergers and Acquisitions in 1999, and has been involved in several purchases since then as Mittal Steel has played a major role in the consolidation of the global steel industry.{{citation needed|date=July 2018}} He lives in London. He led Mittal Steel's offer for Arcelor that led to its acquisition and merger with Mittal Steel in 2006.
