Chowdhury was born into a wealthy [[Bengali Muslim]] [[zamindar]]i family in Dhampur, [[Bhaluka]], [[Mymensingh District]] on 1 March 1913.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite book|publisher=Saukhina Prakāśanī|title=পরিচিতি|year=1979|page=cxx}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; His parents were [[Khan Sahib]] Abedullah Chowdhury and Halimunnesa Chowdhurani.&lt;br /&gt;
