Previously he was a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to May 2018 and a Member of the [[Provincial Assembly of Punjab]] from 2002 to 2007.

He graduated from the [[University of the Punjab]] in 1997 and obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts from there.<ref name="pap/2002" />
