Major &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Alfred Whitmore&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1876&amp;amp;ndash;1946) was an [[England|English]] [[pathologist]] who, together with C.S. Krishnaswami, identified &amp;#039;&amp;#039;[[Burkholderia pseudomallei]]&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, the causative agent of [[melioidosis]] (also known as &amp;quot;Whitmore&amp;#039;s disease&amp;quot;) in opium addicts in [[Rangoon]] in 1911.
