== Political journey ==
Aribam joined [[National Students’ Union of India]] (NSUI), the students’ wing of the [[Indian National Congress]], in July 2012.<ref name="thebridge" /> In an interview, Aribam mentions how racism towards the north-eastern people in various Indian cities pushed her to join active politics.<ref name="shethepeople-manipurigirl" /><ref name="indiatoday" />

In September 2012, Aribam was elected in the Campus Law Centre, [[Faculty of Law, University of Delhi]]. Subsequently, she contested and won the election for the Executive Committee of the Delhi University Students’ Union. Aribam is an anti-racism activist. Her time in detention was mired in trauma as the prison couldn't provide her basic request for a menstrual pad.
