Sarkar is from Surjyamaninagar, West Tripura district. She married Tapan Kumar Deb, a farmer. Sarkar became an MLA winning the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election from Kamalasagar Assembly constituency representing Bharatiya Janata Party.
