Mukherjee was born on 10 June 1983 in [[Belgharia]], [[West Bengal]] into a middle-class family Minati Mukherjee. Her mother is a homemaker and her father was a central government employee. She attended the [[Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls School]], [[Kolkata]] and went to the [[Scottish Church College]], Kolkata. Following the death of her father, she was given a position in his office. She was married to a businessman from Jhargram, but she abandoned him to pursue a profession in Kolkata. She began modelling for the Naktala Udayan Sangha's puja committee and eventually became its brand ambassador. <br />

Mukherjee began her modelling career in 2004 and was offered movie roles while working on her modelling career.
