== History ==
Four old towns are located on the outskirts of Arumuganeri. They are Kayalpattinam in the east, Veerapandiyanpattinam in the south and Attur in the north.
Arumuganeri Kandasamypuram Kayalpattinam Today's Arumuganeri is a collection of four revenue villages in the south and north.
It is located at 8.57 North and 78.12 East. In ancient times, the town was part of the Kuda Nadu division headed by Korkai. Town was part of Tirunelveli district till 1986. After 20 October, 1986 it was part of Tuticorin (Thoothukudi) district.

The traditional food culture of Arumuganeri is commonly called "[[Nadar(caste)|Nadar]] cuisine". It is often based around [[mutton]], [[fish]] and common [[Tamil cuisine]]. The Nadar cuisine veers towards non-vegetarian and lamb is a favorite, present in everything except desserts. Since Arumuganeri is close to the sea, fish forms a major part of their diet. The native cuisine with its unique flavor that comes from usage of freshly hand-pounded spices and red meat. [[Parotta]] is famous here and available in Tiruchendur.

There are six passenger trains between [[Tiruchendur railway station|Tiruchendur]] and [[Tirunelveli Junction railway station|Tirunelveli]], two between Tiruchendur and [[Thoothukudi railway station|Thoothukudi]] and two between Tiruchendur and [[Palani railway station|Palani]].
