== Career ==
Mahapatra headed the Department of Neurosurgery at [[All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi|AIIMS, New Delhi]], where he led several complex surgeries. He was the founding Director of [[AIIMS Bhubaneswar]] and served as Director at the [[Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences]], Lucknow.
