Iyer was deeply interested in [[religion]] and [[philosophy]] and edited an English magazine, ''[[Prabuddha Bharata]]'', from 1896. The magazine was started at the behest of [[Swami Vivekananda]]. He authored ''Kamalambal Saritharam'' between 1893 and 1895.
