After bifurcation of [[Chhattisgarh]] from [[Madhya Pradesh]], he again contested [[2003 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election|2003 Assembly election]] from [[Katghora (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Katghora Constituency]] against Senior Congress leader Bodhhram Kanwar but lost.
