Bapatla municipality, established in 1951, covers an area of 17.92 sq km. It is located 80 km from the state capital. ==Culture==
[[Bhavanarayana Temple|Bhavanaryana Swamy temple]] at Bapatla was built during the reign of Chola King, Krimikanta Chola in the 5th century AD. The main deity Ksheera Bhavanarayana Swamy is residing here with His consort Sundarvalli. Pavitrotsvam and Rathotsavam is celebrated with thousands of devotees participating.
