==History==

Unit No. 1, 2 & 3 of 15MW units at the plant, which were commissioned in the early to mid-1960s have been decommissioned.<ref name="bih">{{cite web|url=http://bsphcl.bih.nic.in/B-Generation.htm|website=bsphcl.bih.nic.in|title=Power Generation|access-date=2017-08-11|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20131015042457/http://bsphcl.bih.nic.in/B-Generation.htm|archive-date=15 October 2013|url-status=dead}}</ref> Barauni Thermal power station was set up in 86.85 acres, ash yard was set up in 340 acres and Residential colony was set up in 139.25 acres.

Thus these units stand retired.

Unit No. 6 which was supplied by BHEL was renovated & modernized.

The unit started generation after NTPC takeover from 23.05.2019.
