The newspaper was founded on 7 December 1984 by [[Barun Sengupta]], a former ''Anandabazar Patrika'' journalist. However, they have been loyal supporter to the present [[West Bengal|Bengal]] [[Government of West Bengal|Government]] after [[2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election|2011 Elections]]. Since April 2002, ''Bartaman Patrika'' has published an online version and in the year of 2006 Bartaman launched its Mobile App version. Also in 2022 Bartaman published Hindi daily named Bartaman Patrika.<br />
