Basen Murmu lent his voice to more than five hundred songs during his life. Murmu was born in Barhajian village of Bijtala block in [[Mayurbhanj district]] of Odisha (India). His father's name is Naran Murmu and his mother's name is Maina Murmu. His widow's name is Mamta Murmu. Murmu died on 8 June 2020.
