In December 2007, [[Chief Minister of Punjab (India)|Chief Minister of Punjab]] [[Prakash Singh Badal]] proposed building an international cricket stadium at [[Bathinda]]. The stadium had expenditure of 100 crore and will be located on 25 acres of land. The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) also gave permission to build a stadium and lent funds. The stadium will also include a cricket academy.
