== Early life ==
Yegnanarayana was born on January 9, 1944, in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. He obtained his [[Bachelor of Science|BSc]] degree from Andhra University, Waltair, in 1961. Then [[Bachelor of Engineering|BE]] in 1964, [[Master's degree|ME]] in 1966, and [[Doctor of Philosophy|PhD]] in 1974, from Indian Institute of Science ([[Indian Institute of Science|IISc]].), Bangalore.
