Kashyap was born in 1967. She qualified as an physician and [[ophthalmologist]]. She is known for her work in conducting eye surgery and for improving women's health. She has led campaigns to encourage more people to donate their organs after death. She created the first post mortem eye donation in [[Jharkhand|Jhankhand]]. Kashyap lobbied state government to equip eleven government hospitals with cervical cancer detection and treatment equipment and organised training sessions for women doctors working in government hospitals and health care centres concerning [[Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia|the detection]] and cure of [[cervical cancer]], the commonest cause of deaths in women.<ref name=goodref/>

On [[International Women's Day]] in 2015 she was honoured by [[Raghubar Das]] who was the chief minister in [[Jharkaland]]. She was given the [[Nari Shakti Puraskar]] award for 2017. The award was made by the President of India at the Presidential Palace ([[Rashtrapati Bhavan]]).
