The first Bhojpuri novel &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Bindiã&amp;#039;&amp;#039; was written in 1956 by Ram Nath Pandey. ==Periods==&lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Initial period (1947 to 1961):&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; First Bhojpuri short story collection [[Jehal ke Sanadi]] was published in this period. The first Bhojpuri novel [[Bindiya (novel)|Bindiã]] by Ram Nath Pandey also published in 1956.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Between 1961 and 1975:&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;- Nearly ten novels were published. Notable are &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Tharuhat ke babua aur bahuriya&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1965), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Jeevan Saah&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1964), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Semar ke phool&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1966), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Rahanidaar beti&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1966), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Ego subah ego saanjh&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1967), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Sunnar kaka&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1976). Most of these are social drama while the first one is called a regional novel which elaborates life of [[Tharu people|Tharu]] tribal people.&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Modern Period ( After 1975):&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; More than 30 novels have been written. Some notable of these are - &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Phulsunghi&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1977), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Bhor musukaail&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1978), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Ghar-tola-gaon&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1979), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Jinigi ke raah&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1982), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Darad ke dahar&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1983), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Achhoot&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1986), mahendar Misisr (1994), Imiritiya Kaki (1997), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Amangal hari&amp;#039;&amp;#039;  (1998), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Awa lavati chalin ja&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (2000), &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Adhe aadh&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (2000) etc. of which &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Phulsunghi&amp;#039;&amp;#039; by Pandey kapil is one of the best novels written in Bhojpuri. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Amangal hari&amp;#039;&amp;#039;  (1998) was written by [[Viveki Rai]], a critic himself. &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Surma Sagun Bichare Na&amp;#039;&amp;#039; is a notable novel written by [[Ramesh Chandra Jha]].&lt;br /&gt;

&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Purvi Ke Dhah&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, written by Jauhar Safiavadi, is the first Bhojpuri novel to be published by [[National Book Trust]].
