Biratunga is also the birthplace of [[Durga Charan Mohanty|Shri Durga Charan Mohanty]], one of the most eminent disciples of Sadguru Swami Nigamananda. It is believed that Shri Mohanty has undergone all religious and spiritual practices (sadhana) and attained enlightenment (siddhi) in Biratunga.
