The company has three units – Clive Works, Victoria Works both in Calcutta and Angus Works in [[Hooghly district|Hooghly]] District, West Bengal. The company was established in 1913 as the Indian Subsidiary of Braithwaite &amp;amp; Co. Engineers Limited (U.K.), for undertaking fabrication of structural steel works. In 1930 it was incorporated as &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Braithwaite &amp;amp; Co (India) Ltd&amp;#039;&amp;#039; at Calcutta. In 1960 Braithwaite&amp;#039;s Angus Works located at [[Champdani]] was set up for manufacture of cranes, foundry products, machinery components etc. The Project Division at Calcutta was established in 1978 to execute turnkey projects for material handling plants. In 1987 Victoria Works was taken over, which is equipped with all facilities for the manufacture of pressure vessels, railway wagons and heavy structurals for bridges and other engineering applications. In 1976 company was taken over by [[Government of India]], and in August 2010 the administrative control of the company was taken over by the [[Ministry of Railways (India)|Ministry of Railways]].&lt;br /&gt;

In 1986, Braithwate &amp;amp; Co., Ltd. came under umbrella of [[Bharat Bhari Udyog Nigam]], which became [[holding company]] of five companies in eastern India; Braithwate &amp;amp; Co. Ltd,  [[Burn Standard Company]], [[Bharat Wagon and Engineering]], [[Braithwaite, Burn &amp;amp; Jessop Construction Company]], [[Jessop &amp;amp; Co. Ltd]].&amp;lt;ref name=a/&amp;gt; Later, Jessop &amp;amp; Company was privatized.&lt;br /&gt;
