== History ==
The idol of the temple was brought by [[Ahom people|Ahom]] king [[Sukhrungphaa|Rudra Singha]] from the [[Jaintia Kingdom|Jaintia]] hills of [[Meghalaya|Meghalya]] to the Ahom kingdom in Assam.
