According to the [[2011 Census of India]], Cart Road had a total population of 14,444 of which 7,116 (49%) were males and 7,328 (51%) were females. There were 1,085 persons in the age range of 0 to 6 years. According to the ''District Census Handbook 2011, Darjiling'', Cart Road covered an area of 17.99 km2. Among the civic amenities, it had domestic electric connections. Among the educational facilities it had were 12 primary schools, 4 middle schools, 2 senior secondary schools,1 degree college. Among the social, recreational and cultural facilities it had 1 orphanage home, 4 public libraries. An important commodity it manufactured was tea.
