Chandy completed his schooling at loyola School in 1992, and he has completed university courses in BA Hons and MA in history from the prestigious [[St Stephen's College]], New Delhi. He was the president of the college students' union there during 2006–07. After his post-graduation, he did his LLB at [[Delhi University]] and his LLM criminology at the [[National Law University]], New Delhi in 2015–16. After completing a summer course at the [[London School of Economics in 2018, Oommen successfully pursued his LLM in constitutional law at Christ University, Bengaluru. He is a practicing lawyer and serves as adjunct faculty at [[Amity University]] and Vivekananda Institute of Professional
