It is also one of the seven state legislative assembly constituencies included in [[Kollam Lok Sabha constituency]]. As of the 2026, the current MLA is [[B B Gopakumar]] of [[Bharatiya Janata Party | BJP]].

==History==
The constituency was previously known as ''Paravur Assembly constituency''. It was temporarily merged with [[Varkala]] Assembly constituency in 1957.
