==Political career==

Abbas served as [[Administrative units of Pakistan#Tehsil|Tehsil Nazim]] of Okara.<ref name="dawn/21feb2008" /> He ran for the seat of the [[Provincial Assembly of the Punjab]] as an independent candidate from Constituency PP-153 (Okara-I) in the [[1997 Pakistani general election]] but was unsuccessful.
