Cherukunnu census town spreads over an area of 15.33&amp;amp;nbsp;km&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt; with 3,418 families residing in it. The sex ratio of Cherukunnu was 1,252 higher than state average of 1,084. &lt;br /&gt;

The name Cherukunnu means Little Hill (&amp;quot;cheru-ചെറു&amp;quot;=Little and &amp;quot;kunnu-കുന്ന്&amp;quot;=hill). There are about five very small hills surrounding this place. The name Cherukunnu is believed to have been derived owing to the presence of these Hills. It is believed that the priests in ancient days gave importance to the [[Hindu]] Gods at this Mosque. There is a mythological belief that this shrine was elevated by [[Lord]] [[Parashurama]]. The national highway passes through [[Taliparamba]] town.  Goa and [[Mumbai]] can be accessed on the northern side and [[Cochin]] and [[Thiruvananthapuram]] can be accessed on the southern side. Cherukunnu town is located on [[Valapattanam]]-[[Pappinisseri]]-[[Pazhayangadi]] main road which gets connected to the NH-66 through [[Pilathara]] at the north and [[Valapattanam]] bridge at the south.  The nearest railway stations are [[Pazhayangadi railway station|Pazhayangadi]] and [[Kannapuram railway station|Kannapuram]] on the northern and southern sides respectively in the Mangalore-[[Palakkad]] line. &lt;br /&gt;
Trains are available to almost all parts of India subject to advance booking over the internet.  There are airports at [[Kannur International Airport|Kannur]], [[Mangalore Airport|Mangalore]] and [[Calicut International Airport|Calicut]].
