The &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Coimbatore Metropolitan Area&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, or &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Coimbatore Urban Agglomeration&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, is the sixteenth-most populous [[metropolitan area]] in [[India]], the second most populous [[metropolitan area]] in  the state of [[Tamil Nadu]] next only to [[Chennai metropolitan area|Chennai]]. The economy of the metropolitan area of Coimbatore is heavily influenced by information technology, engineering and textiles at recent times.
