Ratnani was born in [[Mumbai]], [[Maharashtra]]. He studied Commerce, from [[M. M. K. College|M.M.K. College]]. He started practicing photography as a photographer in Mumbai. He worked as an assistant photographer with Sumit Chopra for almost 3 years.
