In the [[2006 West Bengal state assembly election|2006 state assembly elections]],<ref name=vidhansabha2006/> [[Kshiti Goswami]] of [[Revolutionary Socialist Party (India)|RSP]] won the 151 Dhakuria assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Sougata Roy of [[All India Trinamool Congress|Trinamool Congress]].
