== Political career ==
In the 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election, Dipali Biswas was nominated to contest from the Gazole constituency in West Bengal as the candidate of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The election resulted in Biswas emerging as the winning candidate with a margin of over 20,000 votes and polling at 43.47% of the votes cast against 32.95% of the votes cast in favor of Sushil Chandra Roy of the Trinamool Congress and 14.51% of the votes cast in favor of Sudhanshu Sarkar of the BJP.<ref name=":2" />
