Agashe and his family came into public scandal in 2008, in the [[Suvarna Sahakari Bank]] scam. A wicketkeeper-batsman, Agashe played [[:en:first-class cricket|first-class cricket]] for [[:en:Maharashtra cricket team|Maharashtra]] between 1962 and 1968 and scored two half-centuries in 13 matches.
