Lieutenant-General '''Edward Archibald Foord''' (30 May 1825 – 28 February 1899) was a [[British Army]] officer and [[English people|English]] first-class [[cricket]]er.

Foord was born in [[Company rule in India|British India]] at [[Chennai|Madras]] in May 1825. He was commissioned into the [[Royal Engineers]] as an [[Ensign (rank)#United Kingdom|ensign]] in December 1842, having been a cadet of the [[East India Company]].<ref>{{London Gazette|issue=20181|date=27 December 1842|page=3866}}</ref> He was promoted to the rank of [[Captain (British Army and Royal Marines)|captain]] in April 1858,<ref>{{London Gazette|issue=22621|date=29 April 1862|page=2240}}</ref> with promotion to the rank of [[Lieutenant colonel (United Kingdom)|lieutenant-colonel]] coming in September 1863.<ref>{{London Gazette|issue=22789|date=17 November 1863|page=5441}}</ref> He returned to England around 1871, making a single appearance in [[first-class cricket]] in that year for [[W. G.
