[[Narinder Singh of Patiala|Narinder Singh]], the [[Maharaja]] of [[Patiala State|Patiala]], for his conspicuous service to the [[East India Company]] during the rebellion of 1857, was first granted the title of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Farzand-i-Khas&amp;#039;&amp;#039; on 2 June 1858, to which the words &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Daulat-i-Inglishia&amp;#039;&amp;#039; were added by the British on 14 January 1860.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{Cite book |last=Solomon |first=R.
