&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Shaheed Kavi Mehar Singh Dahiya&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (1916-1945) commonly known as &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Fauji Mehar Singh&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Jat Mehar Singh&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, was a famous Haryanavi poet.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{cite book |last1=Chaudhry |first1=D.R. |title=Haryana at Crossroads: Problems and Prospects |date=2007 |publisher=National Book Trust |isbn=9788123750330 |pages=3, 9}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; He was born in Dahiya clan of [[Jats]] in village Barona in [[Kharkhoda]] tahsil, district [[Sonipat]] ([[Rohtak]] district at that time), [[Haryana]]. In addition to Haryana, his ragnis are still popular in [[Delhi]], Western [[Uttar Pradesh]] and [[Rajasthan]]. Due to economic conditions of the house, he could get primary school education till Class-III only. He was married to Prem Kaur. In 1937, Mehar Singh joined the army. There also, he kept singing and recording ragnis. During Second World War, he and his army colleagues allied with [[Azad Hind Fauj]]. *A book of his writings has been published.&lt;br /&gt;
