A couple of months later, Saran migrated to India and on 1 November 1947, became a member of [[Punjab Legislative Assembly|East Punjab Legislative Assembly]].&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;{{Cite report |url=https://www.punjabassembly.gov.in/images/Debates/1947/1%20to%208%20November%201947.pdf |title=East Punjab Legislative Assembly Official Debates: 1st November 1947 |date=1947 |publisher=East Punjab Government Press |issue=1 |volume=1}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; Despite, he did not resign from the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan. In January 1949, the &amp;quot;Committee on Addition and/or Redistribution of Seats&amp;quot;, while recommending the dissolution of the two vacant non-Muslim seats in the Assembly,{{efn|Both Sachar and Gujral had resigned, before migrating to India.
